The questions we are asked most often before a first flight or a first course. If yours is not here, call David on +33 6 83 05 67 10 — it is usually quicker.
None at all. You fly with a qualified instructor who pilots the wing: your only job is to run a few steps at take-off, then enjoy it. We explain everything on site before we go.
Yes, for safety reasons tied to tandem wing certification. The Discovery tandem takes passengers from 20 to 90 kg, the Ascension tandem from 35 to 95 kg. Minors fly with the consent of a legal guardian. If you are unsure about your situation, call us before booking.
The flight is postponed. If the school cancels for weather or safety reasons you are offered a new date; if none suits you, you are refunded in full. The instructor may call it off at any point, including at the take-off itself.
We fly from April to October, seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm. Spring and autumn often give the most pleasant air and superb light; in summer we favour the calmer morning flights and those at the end of the afternoon.
The flight itself lasts from a few minutes to an hour depending on the option. Allow around two hours in total: meeting point, drive up to take-off, preparation, flight and return. The Ascension tandem also involves roughly a 30-minute walk in.
The beginner course runs 5 days (€630) and is designed for complete beginners. It starts with ground handling on the training slope, theory (aerodynamics, meteorology, air law), then first supervised flights, gradually moving higher. Equipment is provided throughout.
No, full equipment is provided for courses: wing, harness, helmet, radio and reserve. If you already own gear you may fly with it, once the instructor has checked it. We are also Air Design, Niviuk and Syride dealers if you want to buy your own.
You choose the option, personalise the message and pay online. You immediately receive a PDF with a QR code, ready to give, plus a shareable link. The voucher is valid for 12 months, and the recipient then picks their date directly with us.
The meeting point depends on your flight time — Champourcin for 8am and 9am, Digne stadium for 10am and 11am, Courbon in the afternoon. It is sent to you with a Google Maps link in your booking confirmation, and there is parking there.
Closed shoes that support the ankle (hiking boots or high-top trainers), a windproof jacket and sunglasses. It is cooler in the air than on the ground, even in summer. Helmet and all flying equipment are provided.
Tandem flying uses certified equipment, serviced regularly, with state-qualified instructors. The main safety factor remains the instructor's judgement of the conditions: that is why a flight can be called off at the last moment. Digne Parapente is an FFVL-affiliated school with civil liability insurance.
